Finally! A completely separate post for the most common frosting. My favorite chocolate buttercream recipe is very simple to make and easily piped onto cakes and cupcakes.
Chocolate Buttercream
It's incredibly rich, creamy, smooth, and easy to work with for decorating cupcakes and cakes.
Ingredients
- 125 g unsalted butter softened
- 1 1/2 cups (240g) confectioners' sugar
- 2 tbsp unsweetened coco powder
- 1 tbsp heavy cream or milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Beat butter in a small bowl with an electric mixer until creamy about 2 minutes.
- Add sifted confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds, gradually increase the speed and beat for another 30 seconds.
Notes
Add 3 tbsp more confectioners’ sugar or cocoa powder if the frosting is too thin or another tablespoon of milk if the frosting is too thick.
